Colon Deal Gives Sox Depth

Bortolo Colon pitched a total of 194.2 innings over the last three years. Before this signing, the Sox were going into Spring Training with Aaron Poreda, Jeff Marquez, Clayton Richard, and Lance Broadway all battling for the final 2 spots in the rotation. Although only pitching next to nothing the last couple years, I feel more confident with Colon Heading into Spring Training than I do with the set of young pitching vying for the last 2 spots in the rotation. Colon, last year, made a total of 7 starts with an ERA of 3.92. What was suprising is the velocity on his fastball reached 95 MPH which shows that he still has the arm, if he can keep it healthy. This is a good signing for the Sox, as it was only a minor league deal and gves the club depth. Colon should report to Spring Training healthy.

  1. Bortolo Colon does not give the White Sox an depth. I would rather see the young pitchers work hard and earn a spot rather than one pitcher with not much experience either. He hasn't played much and before we throw him into anything we need a solid pitcher who has actually played the game. Colon does not give this tem depth in the rotation what so ever.
