White Sox roster set; back-up catcher still to be determined;Owens cut(YES!)

UPDATE: Corkey Miller named back-up catcher

The White Sox made more cuts today, almost finalizing their 25 man roster. These cuts included Owens, Marquez, Broadway, Egbert, Williams, and Kroeger. Owens was told he was put on waivers. Also announced today, Dawayne Wise was named the Opening Day Center Fielder. I do not agree with this move, I believe Brian Anderson should have gotten the job, as he does everything better than Wise except speed.
Here is how the roster looks:

PREVIEW:Third Base

The White Sox look to come into the 2009 season with Josh Fields as their third baseman. Fields had a breakthrough 2007 campain, but then spent a painful year in the minor leagues when Kenny Williams could not find a trade for Joe Crede. Now the job seems to be Fields, as Crede fled for free agency and signed with the rival Minnesota Twins. Fields poses a great power bat, but needs work on making contact and fielding. Fields did work in the offseason with bench coach Joey Cora and Manager Ozzie Guillen. If Josh goes down or does not perform, Wilson Betemit or Dayan Viciedo seem to be the quick fix.
Third Base depth
  1. Josh Fields
  2. Wilson Betemit
  3. Dayan Viciedo

We're Back!

After some technical difficulties and some construction on this site and the main one, we are back up. Changes will still come, as we have to still edit some things, but for now, White Sox Wire is up!
